How To Apply Conditional Formatting To A Row In Google Sheets

Color the entire row if a box is checked

The aim of this playbook🏁 is to show whole-row formatting based on a value. Remember The Checklist Manifesto, and read the argument Rediscover the magic of spreadsheets I do need strong visuals to see what I am working on.

1. STEPS

  1. Select area to which you want to apply this (not everything)
  2. Open Conditional Formatting → Select Custom Formula
  3. As a formula enter =$<col><num>=<value>, for example checking the box makes the row colorful.
Apply to range: A3:F999
Format cells if... Custom formula is
=$F3=TRUE

Note that rows must match in range and formula (3 in the example above)
